Questions parents ask

When should my child first see a dentist?

Dental groups recommend a first visit by your child's first birthday, or when the first tooth comes in. A baby can stay in your arms for the whole visit.

Can I stay with my child?

Yes. You can sit beside the chair or hold a hand. With teens, we ask the teen whether they want a parent in the room.

Do you take our insurance?

We work with many plan types, listed on the fees page. Sade checks your child's benefits before the first visit and tells you what she finds.

What if we do not have dental insurance?

You get a written estimate before treatment, with each step and its fee, and you decide from there.

Do you accept Medicaid or CHIP?

Yes, for children. Sade can tell you what your child's plan covers before you come.

Will it hurt?

Most children feel pressure and some tenderness. We show each tool first, numb the area when it is needed, and stop when your child raises a hand.

How often does my child need X-rays and a cleaning?

Dr. Yates decides from your child's teeth, age and history, and tells you why. Many children come about every six months.

What counts as a dental emergency?

A knocked-out or broken tooth, swelling and pain that is getting worse, or bleeding that will not stop. Swelling in the face, eye or neck, or trouble breathing or swallowing, means an emergency room or 911.

Do you offer sedation, and who gives it?

Dr. Yates can talk with you about nitrous oxide or a medicine by mouth for a child who cannot get through treatment otherwise. She gives it herself, and a second team member watches your child throughout. The full steps are on the sedation page.

Can I get a written estimate before treatment?

Yes. Ask when you book or at any visit, and you get each step and its fee in writing before treatment.

Does anyone on the team speak another language?

Czarina speaks Tagalog and English. If your family would like another language, tell Sade when you book and she will ask about an interpreter by phone for the visit.

How do I change or cancel a visit?

Call or text us as early as you can, especially when the roads are bad. We will move the visit.

Still have a question?

Ask Sade by phone or through the form.
